The Joint Research Seminar between The University of Sheffield and Yamaguchi University was held on the 9th of July.

The University of Sheffield and Yamaguchi University has concluded The Academic exchange Agreement. Faculty of Engineering has been sending the students since Year 2004. In this seminar, we exchanged the research reports in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Dr. Jonathan Black, Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering and Steven M Bayton, a Research Student of The University of Sheffield, and Koji Nakashima, Doctorate student of Yamaguchi University gave a presentation respectively. Mr. Nakashima received a research grant (The Choshu-Five Memorial Scholarship) from the Faculty to develop his research project. He had worked on his research with Jonathan's research group for 6 months. The presentation was stated "Embankment Collapse research", which he had worked on during his stay in Sheffield.

We are expecting that this seminar contributes to the further development of our both academic staff and students' relationship in the future.
